We investigate how brain barriers actively shape Parkinson’s disease
at the blood-brain interface
The de Rus Jacquet laboratory studies how disease-associated signals are sensed, transported and communicated between the circulation and the brain. Using human iPSC-derived cells and multicellular brain-barrier models, we investigate how Parkinson's disease-associated genes, proteins and systemic factors alter neurovascular function.
Our goal is to uncover human mechanisms of disease at the blood-brain interface and identify new opportunities to protect or restore brain-barrier function.
